Special Education
Welcome to the San Marino Unified School District Special Education Department. We are committed to supporting the needs of students with disabilities and providing various services and supports for all eligible students. Our special education programs serve those students with mild to intensive needs ranging from age 3 to 22 years old.
SMUSD provides a full continuum of special education services delivered in the least restrictive environment to enable students to access their education and make meaningful progress. The Individualized Education Program (IEP) process determines all special education services at the individual student level. The IEP process is student-centered and focuses on a student’s strengths, unique needs, goals, and necessary services and supports that are reasonably calculated to provide the student an educational benefit in the least restrictive environment.
If you would like more information about the special education identification process, and special education programs and services, please contact the psychologist at your child’s school or the Special Education Department.
