Frequently Asked Questions
What is a 6th Grade Dance Party? It’s a fun way to party with your friends, listen to cool music spun by a DJ, play games, eat yummy food, and dance if you like. This is group dancing so you do not need a partner. The DJ brings an assistant to teach you some dance moves. Each party will also have unique activities, such as air-brush tattoos.
When are the parties? There will be 4 Dance Parties throughout the year: Sept 13th, Nov 15th, February 7th, and April 18th.
Where are the parties? The parties are held in the HMS Cafeteria. Sixth grade parents decorate to transform the cafeteria into a fun party place.
What should I wear? It would be great if you dress according to the theme, but you can also come casual or dressed up. The school dress code will still be in effect.
Do I have to dance? Of course not! There is no pressure to dance. There are many other things for you and your friends to do.
How is the food? Each party will serve a light dinner with kid friendly food and snacks.
If I am bored, can I leave the party early? Unfortunately, NO. Once you walk in the door, you must stay until the party is over at 8pm.
Does it cost anything? It costs only $40 for the year, which includes all food and activities. You can also come to the party and pay $12 at the door.
What kind of music will be played? Each party will have a professional DJ. These guys know what music you like. You can also ask them to play your favorite songs.
Who can come to the parties? Only 6th graders from HMS can attend the party.
Will there be parents at the party? Parents drop you off at the HMS Cafeteria and leave. The few parents at the parties are only there to assist with activities and to ensure everything goes smoothly.
Will I have fun? ABSOLUTELY – so get your group of friends together and head off to the Friday night dance party!
